Basically the title of the post, I want to transition to software and work at Disney. A lot of the job posting I see say a JVM language and some web technologies. But is really helpful to learn? TC: 84k
You’ll need to know how to do that flip book sketch thing. I always see it on Disney documentaries ✏️
Out of curiosity - why Disney precisely?
People have strong feelings about Disney and the things they make. Not surprising that some folks would make a goal of working there.
Corporate espionage. OP has deep DC ties
Stay away …
Nirvana. Love that song.
All jokes aside. It’s mega disorganized. Structure is wild. And as a beginner it may be hard to learn. That said. If you want to come. We use databricks, snowflake, spark, airflow and aws tech stack. Feel free to dm me with any specific questions. Python is the typical go to if you’re looking at the data side of things.
You just wnat to work in Disney or you are changing jobs in general? If the latter dm me I can refer you to amazon
It is the latter, I appreciate the offer for a referral but I don’t think I’m quite at that point. I’m currently a hardware/security engineer so I have a bit of catch up to do before I feel comfortable going to tech company for software.
Companies like Amazon do employ hardware / security folks
They are a Scala shop iirc.
Can confirm
Is this disney or disney+?
Disney+ is a consumer product. Disney Streaming Services is the org that builds that product and others. OP is asking about DSS
Bro ru for real… u ask a question n then mock someone trying to help
That is oddly specific prep
It is and it may back fire but I’ll see
any programming language + streaming tech hls / dash / video formats / encoders / packaging / drm
Only helpful if the OP wants to work on Disney Streaming's core media team. The remaining 95% of DS engineers work on other stuff.

Java is used in many places so it's worth learning.
