Hi 👋, I am interviewing at Meta for EM role for research team. The recruiter just sent me the interview process and it’s really different from other interview process, it’s 7 interview for onsite: - 1 Behavioural - 1 People Management - 1 AI research design - 1 AI coding - 1 Technical retrospective - 1 Project retrospective - 1 AI Design Anyone had this before?
And? What’s wrong with wanting technical hands-on managers?
It is not the problem, the interviews are different, I don’t know what does it mean AI coding? AI research design? I have never seen that before
Really? You don’t know what AI Research design means? You may be underqualified for the role
F No clue as to what some of these rounds entail, also on where to prep from
Ai coding could be pytorch or leetcode. It probably depends on the interviewer. I was told it'd be leetcode style. Then I got pytorch related questions. Ai design is the most difficult one because it's very subjective. Depending on your field, they'll ask you an ML design question and you'll try to guess what they want to hear. Im not sure about Ai research design but my guess it'll be another vague and subjective round. With a bad interviewer passing these types of interviews is quite difficult.
Ok thanks for the clarification. So, you had an interview asking these questions? Can I am?
Mine was an IC interview. 1 coding, 1 ai coding, 2 ai design, and a behavioral.
Why don't you ask the recruiter - they should give you a nice write up on what to expect in each round. You can also check if you can connect with the EM loop guide - they can help answer questions about each of these rounds. Meta interview loops are very well planned and have no surprises.
Yes, I am waiting for Monday to email the recruiter ☺️

EMs at meta are expected to be technical and more hands on as part of their base expectations now.
Yes, and I prefer that but what does it mean AI coding? Is it Leetcode? Or ML code like PyTorch? ..
Not sure as I don’t do those loops - but that’s what your recruiter should be helping you prep for
