Google is an amazing employer and I love it here. I am not sure what I should do next. Should I just stay at Google forever? Is there any better company to work for? Here's one random example to illustrate just how amazing Google is. While getting a massage I saw a sign saying "... Optimizing your life is our global initiative to make Googlers the healthiest and happiest workforce on the planet..." Which other company does things like that?? Google is amazing
Enjoy life? Your employment should not define you.
I'm not saying that it defines an individual completely but it literally determines how you spend a huge amount of your waking hours and it determines the resources you have during all other hours of your day. It's worth thinking about a bit
Yea its worth thinking about for a bit. But in my unsolicited opinion, it sounds like you’ve thought about it alot.
You could try getting into Albertsons. You probably won't get in, but it gives you something to aim.
What do you mean AI foundation ?
We’d know where to go if you provided TC
Tc, yoe?
Apple is much nicer that Google. A lot of Googlers come to Apple as their next destination. Apple is more commercially oriented that Google. Most of my projects at Google got cancelled or it was of significantly low value /impact . In Apple most projects are impactful and directly related to customer experience.
Absolutely correct!!
How much of the value that these "impactful" projects create do you as an individual actually capture? You just own Apple stock which non-employees can also buy. What's the actual benefit for YOU? It's the learning opportunity and nothing else? Why give up all the perks at Google for this (non-guaranteed) learning opportunity at Apple? Seems like a bad deal
Don't let others define your happiness. If you are happy then lean into it.
Lil the best, not even in top 5%
Please name specific companies that are better. Struggling to find them? I thought so
Study for a phd and do research in something that interests you in computer science. You might get tc cut, but it’s worth it.
Joined recently, so probably try working there? 🙄
