What to expect in the Uber algorithms round?
Have an interview with Uber for SWE position after new year. What should I expect in the algorithms round. Leetcode medium/hard? Is it in whiteboard or laptop? I also got a hacker rank link for the interview. Is it used in case the interview is conducted by a remote interviewer?
Laptop on hanker rank. For me they actually expect me to be able to compile and run some simple tests.
How many rounds do you typically have for a SWE role. I see 6 rounds. The recruiter told me that 2 of them will be shadow interviews( interview training). Not sure what that means. I have seen interviews where each has two interviewers, 1 main and 1 shadow. Haven’t seen the shadow interviewer taking the interviews by himself/herself. Bit confused. Any insights?
I had 5 interviews. Each is 1 hour. There are interviews that have 2 people showing up but only one interviewer is asking questions. The other shadow interviewer is just observing and taking notes. Pretty common practice.
What kind of questions were asked? How was your preparation? Did you get the offer?
Leetcode. I got the offer.
Varies wildly depending on the team interviewer. Goes from super easy to hard, so ymmv. I ask easy questions but then expect quick answers and 2 more follow up questions, whiteboard only
