Whats Washington DC like?
Hello dear member of the Blind community, I might be moving to DC (from the west coast) for some time; any gotchas, tips for success, reviews, places to check out, stuff to make sure to do, things to avoid, etc? Blind tax 150 #dc #life #worklife #worklifebalance
It’s a nice balance. Not too bustling but not silent and dead like Seattle. Traffic is a pain in the ass and people don’t know how to drive half the time, so stick to walking or taking the metro. Lots of great restaurants (especially Mediterranean if you’re a fan of that cuisine). Some great speakeasies and bars. Smithsonian museums are a must go (plan out which ones to visit, I guarantee you won’t be able to visit them all no matter how hard you try). Avoid getting into politics. It’s the U.S. Capitol with entire districts of government agencies and organizations and you never know what political ideas people you meet may have. You don’t want to rub someone the wrong way. Feel free to reach out if you have other concerns that you want addressed.
Stay away from Prince George county in Maryland. Rest of the area are good. Lots of suburbs. Live in VA to save money on tax and rent. Traffic is insane. Definitely have a car
Other parts of Maryland have Black majorities too and don't suck like PG county. I like Baltimore personally and lived there for several years, but can't imagine why anyone would live in PG county.

Washington DC is a great city. Lot of places to go out and cool areas like georgetown
I live in DC proper in Logan Circle. Food's great, bars are great. It hasn't been taken over by tech zombies/incels, so the people are diverse and interesting. And ridiculously attractive. My main reservation is that people tend to only live here for a few years before going somewhere else... It's very transient.
How is the commute to the amazon offices?
Will you be in the city, in VA, or in MD?
