Whats it like at SpaceX Seattle?

Its kind of a dream of mine to work there because of the company mission. But whats it like working there?

Is like been underpaid to make sure Elon Musk have another chapter in the history books

Sounds acceptable. That shit is either going to work out or it isn't and humanity will be delayed in space exploration further. Musk's companies aren't actually the richest companies around. He takes too many risks and reinvests too much... And is doing quite well for doing that. The space market just isn't the kind of money maker yet as some others are.

It's shit

Several years back I interviewed there and got to say I was very impressed with the hands on stuff they were doing in house. They definitely low ball the offer and leverage on the passion that some might have. So, in short if you are really really passionate about space industry then this is the place to be at. You will get your hands dirty and work on a wide variety of issues.Good luck!

One imagines they will at least match or slightly exceed your current salary if they hire you.

One would be wrong

lol Being overly demanding there then. Theoretically, I suppose there was a time where I might have joined in for the mission, even if the company was in a sense not doing well. I've done that before... It depends on whether you think there's something more valuable for you to be doing (or getting) Although i don't personally agree with SpaceX's investment priorities (mission definition)

Boeing idea_bank Aug 19, 2017

Not necessarily..I have heard them offering 10% lower than the current salary of an experienced professional because it meets their standards.

Meets their standards, or they know they're poor and are only going to win with passionate people who work extra hard? lol Anyway, people should ideally not be to self centered - a hero by definition, isn't - but if they are playing the "This is what we pay" game (that creates equality in pay), they are retarded. Personally, I think Musk has the "decent intelligence, lots of hard work" thing going. They may need only so many brilliant people.

A friend interviewed there and got a low offer. His impression was people there are stressed and bust their asses for lowish pay. Why? Because they are fanboys and fangirls. Not trying to be insulting. Probably a super cool feeling to be creating the future.

From the looks of things, you may want to consider if SpaceX will benefit your career and what kind of stock options there might be.

They're the only company I've encountered that insists on a Bachelor's Degree for Dev positions... relevant experience need not apply. I've been black-holed twice now by recruiters (who reached out to me!) once they learn I have no degree. Which is a bit funny because there's some famous interview clip out there with Musk saying he doesn't care if someone has a degree or not.

You shouldn't mention it or show your insecurity... Show your abilities and your confidence in them.

I didn't the first time, she asked in an email (and never responded once I answered). The second time it was included as a sort of disclaimer line at the bottom of her email.

SpaceX ArNB18 Aug 24, 2017

I would answer this... But no time.
