Need your thoughts and suggestion - I am from technical consulting background, and have 19yrs experience in SAP Landscape Architecture, Integration, Development, Project implementation. Recently, my job application was rejected for Value Advisor role, saying mba is preferred and that made me think about future options - 1) I find Architect profile is highest role that i can achieve (being technical), and then it's stagnation?? What other options/ role you think of growth, beyond being Enterprise Arch/ Integration Arch? 2) With 19yrs of technical expr, I feel its bit late too explore MBA options? Is exec-mba or offline mba an option for further growth? What kind of univ can give boost for max ROI? 3) Is Product Mgmt/ Project Mgmt only option for growth? But it becomes non technical, too generic, is similar to Halo effect, too suceptible for easy firing and may need to start from scratch in proj mgmt hierarchy!! #advisory #productmanager #product #pm #engineering #software #mba #emba
Yes, the technical (individual contributor) roles have a glass ceiling. But sometimes growing is not always that important in life. Think about enjoying your life as well.
