Whats the difference between netflix tech and disney+ tech?

Netflix boast a about 200mil user while disney+ have 130mil user. Yet netflix engineering is paid double of disney according to levelfyi, do you anticipate disney to run into scalability or any tech problem in the future until they raise pay and attract top talent?

Have you even used both products? Netflix is way better and has way more content. Netflix is always flawless for me streaming 4k. Disney has issues from time to time and is not as high quality for me. Plus Disney+ UI/UX is no where near as good. I’m always digging for what I want and to resume shows. Like you don’t need a super awesome deep learning algorithm to figure out I only watch marvel and Star Wars stuff and when a new thing in either of those comes out I am logging in to watch it. Quit showing me Disney fairytale cartoon stuff. Plus, Disney+ also costs like half what Netflix does per month so huge revenue difference.

Content has nothing to do with tech. But curious to know how the experience is different between the two. I have both. As an adult, I have more things to watch on Netflix and kids like Disney+. Other than that techwise Disney+ is good enough IMO (as a user).

Amount of content does matter though, it’s a technical challenge to help users find stuff they want to watch when your catalog is 50x the size. Like I can literally scroll through every show and move I’m interested in seeing on Disney + in 5 minutes. Disney doesn’t have to help me find new content I might be interested in because I’m well aware of when all the new marvel and Star Wars stuff will hit Disney +.

Isn’t Disney a body shop?

I honestly don't care that much for the content from either but purely from a technical point of view the work Netflix is doing to serve 400gbps from their edge servers is incredibly cool https://hothardware.com/news/netflix-400-gbits-per-server-amd-epyc-processors Disney+ doesn't own any delivery infrastructure so they're only as good as akamai, lumen limelight etc .. do you care as an end user .. eh .. maybe not as long as it works

Disney+ is building their own cdn AFAIK. Early stages I think

The amount of woke injected per line of code?

I think Disney+ user counts are significantly inflated because the subs are given out for free with a Verizon account

Netflix DontLookUp Jul 10, 2022

Compared to a commercial solution, our open connect CDN alone saves billions in the cost every year. More than enough to pay the entire engineer org.

Is there a tech blog or write up I can read about this?
