I see that T-Mobile is pushing everyone to RTO without the requirement of masking up. What’s the internal sentiment of this? Are you guys actually so cool with this that the execs predicted no significant repercussions/backlash? YOE: 4 TC: $140K
It's asinine. The worst part of it for me is a that a bunch of non-scientists are forcing health decisions on their employees. They'll say they're following CDC guidelines, but with the absence of a mask policy, they very clearly are picking and choosing what they'd like to follow. They also like saying they're following the advice of Dr Vin Gupta (who has I guess has become their personal advisor), who last month said people shouldn't be in offices until likely May, so, again, Leadership has heard what should be done and have decided they know what's best for the health of their employees. There are certainly some people who REALLY want to go back to the office but anecdotally they're people who either struggle with communication technologies and/or are extremely social people and the office is their social outlet. Like FFSTMO, I expect significant attrition after bonuses. TMO pay and benefits are pretty middle-of-the-road and Leadership's decisions are a deal-breaker for many. I have a formal Covid accommodation through March due to being immunocompromised and am extremely concerned with what will happen for me when the accomodation expires. I imagine others are in the same situation. The only real solution is a new job and all because a bunch of "leaders" have an outdated view of what collaboration looks like.
Offices are not equipped to handle RTO. Offices barely has monitors for 10% employees. How are they forcing us to go to offices?
Quit jobs
Not cool. Majority of people at the office don't wear masks when they're in the office. Nobody is correcting them and management is fine with it. I rarely go in, have an exception through March, and whenever I do go in I double mask. Had a guy audacious enough to come into a private conference room where everyone was wearing masks, without a mask, and ask if it was cool to not wear mask. I gestured around the room and he left, but the lack of awareness/shame is interesting. Long story short, puts on TMO, 60% of my team is job hunting and everyone is simply waiting for February bonuses to dip.
It’s worth noting that al employees in office based roles have to be vaccinated, hence no masks at desk. That was amended recently to a mask on all time policy in light of new variants
I'm curious, how and when did you hear about the mask policy change? This is the first I've heard about it and I'm wondering if I missed something or if it only applies to certain orgs or campuses or something (which would be weird, but everything about the TMO situation is weird).
Mask in office was effective August 2021. Depending on the role/ numbers of employees in any given RBO, the enforcement is next to nothing. Forsure honor code. But, no one who is unvaxxed can enter any RBO/HQ
No, not cool with it at all personally. I expect quite a bit of attrition after bonus payouts. Senior leadership has their heads pretty far up their asses and think that everyone in the company collaborates in war rooms like they do. The reality is we just merged two companies that have people all across the country. My meetings are going to be virtual regardless of where I'm sitting, so it's ridiculous regardless of the ongoing pandemic. COVID takes the directive from ignorant and insulting to negligent and dangerous.
When do the bonus payouts happen?
Bonus payout is towards the end if Feb
