While changing the job how much increase in pay is decent? Recruiter asked me to give numbers, I mentioned atleast 10-20% than what i am making now, it's with VISA Inc, levels.fyi says its the same amount what I am making now, so not sure what to do. For sure the more the better but feels like this might be a laternal move. For how much raise minimum would you make a move? Any other suggestions other than grind more leetcode or look elsewhere, because I am already doing this. Edit: sorry fellowmates nit posting tc earlier. TC: 220K bay area. New tc: 280k austin, I am happy to move. #tech #visa #workday #google #amazon #microsoft #meta @tech@visa @workday @google @amazon @Microsoft @meta
I accepted a lower than current salary offer since I wanted to get out of extremely toxic workplace. Now I am happy, able to sleep well and regularly workout
This or if you find a much better learning opportunity that will fethc you big dollars later in life are the only two reasons which should make you accept a lower offer
We’re you in Amazon
I don’t think this is a fixed number. It depends on how happy you are in your current job. If you are happy then you are taking a risk with moving so it could be 50% more. If you are unhappy moving for 10% more or a lateral move makes sense. My 2 cents.
Wow you would move for 2 cents? You must hate VMware.
Probably more afraid of Broadcom
why the f does current comp matter? If money is the only factor then it wont be enough ever
I do need some piece my mind from my current micromanaging manager.
in your hands: build trust and credibility . Not in your hands:douchebag manager.
Raise of 1k a month after tax is my minimum
I'd 💯 move for 50% increase, but im only 35% +/- 12% sure of that. (roughly speaking, math is not my strong suit)
Math is not your strong suit! It's evident buddy, no need to highlight.
With a toxic manager, I'd leave for a pay cut. Last thing you need is PTSD because you stayed under a terrible manager for TC reasons.

This advice is apt for my current situation... thanks for reminding me why I need to leave asap, internet stranger
+120%
So many other factors missing from this criteria. For example, 30% raise but they make you move from Seattle to Bay Area where everything is exponentially expensive? Immediate NO!
F that noise
levels.fyi is not outdated. It is pretty accurate. Infact Blind is outdated. I will not talk about any other rubbish websites like linkedin, workday or payscale.
Levels has plenty of $450k L6 offers listed. Buddy, you need to learn about averages and the concept of changing markets.
If I’m interested in the work or think the equity will potentially grow I’ll take the same TC or even a little less
Bad advice right here.
@reddit is probably a recruiter who likes to lowball candidates
