This year FB intern’s return offer basically has the same RSU and slightly higher base (a few thousand) but sign on all went down 25k (non negotiable). For example, in previous years, usually if people ask, they get 75k sign on for MA/EE and 100k for GE. This year, since there’s no negotiation at all, we’re looking at 50k for MA/EE and 75k for GE. Also why is it that RSU stays the same as a few years ago. There’s this thing called inflation right? Is FB ok? Current job market is def hot but seems like they just want to lowball their return interns. Stock is at all time highs and other companies’ NG offers are only increasing (Amazon, Google etc.)#tech
MA/EE ? GE? 100k sign on?
Meet all/ exceed expectations; greatly exceeds; yeah 100k sign on was for previous year GEs, nonexistent this year lol
Wages are based on the cost of labor in the target market (supply/demand), not inflation or cost-of-living, even if they sometimes correlate.
Makes sense. But I thought this year there’s talent shortage bcs all the companies are recruiting like crazy? I’ve heard all big companies are interviewing much more NG than before
Maybe they're getting all the accepted return offers they need.
They started this year like this so it’s not HC related
imo it's because it's we're competitive regardless. E3 has always been a relatively flooded pipeline, i.e. there's lots of supply and not enough demand compared to senior engineering.
Maybe FB is finally realizing it this year lol
Like Google, everybody wants to work there. Maybe they saw return offer acceptance was super high and they could afford to save $X while still attaining near that acceptance rate.
Agree. This could be a legit explanation - previous year acceptance rate was prob very high
Pretty unfortunate that FB is actually reducing return offers year over year lol. Not a good way to recruit new grad talent
Agree. Crazy right lol all the other peer companies are increasing
Stock is not at all time high 😂
Haha no this week or past week but compared to pre-pandemic it’s much much higher. So concerned NGs getting RSUs at this price is gonna have serious issues with TC later …
I had the same concern 5 years back, but it turned out well. And even if it goes down, it'll either come back up, or it'll motivate you to switch. You'll be fine.
