You have options. You are not required to join Amazon. Just like the knapsack problems, you can choose to go for Amazon or not go for Amazon and do other things.
Like in any company it all depends on your team and manager, I regularly work 9 to 5.
Me too
Really lucky.. I am yet to find that kind of people in 500 plus people org who work 9 to 5. I am talking about tech people.
Have too much wine with your thanksgiving dinner?
No. You can't communicate.
What thanksgiving dinner, the OP was working!
You can literally say that about anything.

Agreed. Fix your problem or GYFO. Do not post shit about your team like a little incapable botch
Spoken like a truly toxic AWS SDM!
Well, I was a bit harsh. Should not drunk-post! However, I still don’t like whining. Don’t like WLB? Fix it or leave the bad team. And for reference I’m not a toxic sdm (at least as far as survey feedback goes)
All three teams I’ve been on have had great WLB. I think it’s a vocal minority at this point
Can you share which teams you have been a part of?
Infrastructure, ec2 and an unannounced product/team
Amazon is a big company. I bet WLB varies widely between org and teams.
I worked at Amazon for 6 years. WLB is not great there so don’t join if you don’t like that.
Much depends on managers and the team, at amz often you see new managers trying to establish and as a result disturb their own wlb and everyone under them. Politics is another nasty thing if get worse affects wlb. Stay away from bad managers and in general negative people.

The end of Backdoor Roth?!
Well perhaps people claim it because it’s true? The existence of alternatives doesn’t actually change the WLB at Amazon. Did I miss something?
