I am a new grad from tier-1 iit . I am joining one of company nutanix, sprinkler, Alphonso, appdynamics Tc- 29-31 Contrary to popular assumptions most of new grads even from tier 1 colleges don't have recruiters approaching them for interviews(except from hfts where noone wants to join). But I see here that a lot of people have recruiters approaching them on LinkedIn 1. At which yoe your demand as an swe increases in market? Why are new grads not in demand? 2. Do recruiters only contact you if you are from Google and Uber? Ps- most of the companies conduct oa for new grads even if you contact recruiter. And the amount oh honesty people show there it's impossible to get selected in them
Non IITian! Recruiters are after me since 1 YOE!! Don't know why!!!
Which company you started your career?
No name startup. startup doesn't even exists anymore :)
You might need to polish your Linkedin profile.
Can you explain on some ways to polish?
Don't go there 😓
Heard very bad reviews from seniors in terms wlb in short term and growth in long term
I started getting after 1.5 years. Had an active LinkedIn profile, among larger companies I was contacted by Goldman Sachs, Amazon and lot of small startups. Edit : I am from Tier2 private college
Which company you were in when started getting calls?
Samsung
Recruiters don't usually need to approach new grads because new grad headcount is almost completely filled up by returning interns and campus hires.
Any openings in Li on that note for new grad?
Not that I know of. If you see an opening, I can refer you.
I am contacted by many companies after I put more than 10 hours of effort on my LinkedIn Profile .0 YOE
Any tips ? Would you be comfortable dming me your profile,
Woah what did you change?
You need at least 2 yoe for good recruiters to approach you and 5 yoe for it to be a constant thing in your inbox. Also tier 1 colleges tag becomes lot less useful after 5 yoe, you can get interviews using that only in initial part of your career. Currently even if recruiters aren't approaching you if you apply/contact then there's a high probability that you will hear back from them due to your college tag.
Why are new grads in less demand (the competition should remain same right?) Also Do recruiters contact you only if you are from Google and Uber or even startup guys get contacted?
They contact you if you have a decently good company on resume, some start ups are of equal value as google and other top companies. As for new grads, those entry level positions are easier to fill as compared to experienced roles. Most companies no longer have a requirement like tier 1 college thus have a huge overflow of candidates at enter level and due to online courses and sudden increase in people who are good at DSA, companies aren't exactly struggling to fill their entry level positions
