The earliest day I can start to work at Google is around December this year. It's kinda holiday season already, and I thought if I should wait to get the bonus from my current employee. However, I also heard if I join this year, I will get the stock refresh in December 2020, but if I join in January, the first stock refresh will be December 2021. I wonder if this is true? How's your opinion on this? Thank you in advance!
True. Join in 2019. otherwise you lose 1 year refresh. Noted that you canāt join in end of December.
This is relatively less important. But if you join in December you don't get that year's $2k seed money from Google for your HSA. Joining in November does.
Are you taking about ghip?
Also 401k match. It's 50% right?
I haven't thought about that yet...lol
You can start at Google and use vacation days at your other place to get the bonus (only if higher than vacation pay out). I did that for a job switch once
Really? May I ask you if you are US citizen? I don't think my H1B visa allows me to do that...:(
I donāt know. I am a citizen
I'm starting in December for this reason as well. Recruiter told me 12/16 is the last day for the year one can start.
Congrats!
Which has more value in the long term? I'd say Google stock. Confirm everything before you jump ship.
Congrats ! Whatās the offer ? Which level ?
I would do the math on what a refresh a year earlier is worth vs. the bonus at your current job
Congratulations!!! Which location are you going to join?

Good point I think google does their refresh around Jan I would suggest you join last week of november, this way you will count as joining in beg. Of november, and at least get an extra day off (in some companies). The sooner you join the better in my experience.
Thanks! :)
