I'm a startup founder that got into big tech. Recently I started to feel imprisoned within my own job. Everyone seems to just care about sustaining a good lifestyle than achieving big things and I feel my attempts to move things around and set bolder objectives have led to confused feelings among the team. I feel like I'm killing the rest and vest vibes for everyone lol. In addition to that, my current total comp is $300k+. If I quit big tech now I can easily raise a seed round and I have reasonable startup experience to avoid common pitfalls and get to product-market fit more efficiently. Financially, a startup seems much more lucrative than going up the ladder in a big tech. What do you think? If you've quit your job for a startup pls share your experience and any advice! #bigtech #tech #startup #career #money #culture #google #facebook
Here is a key indicator, if you can't sleep thinking about it for months then you should go for it. But nobody can tell you that because they are not taking on the risk you are taking. So others may have done it but they shouldn't tell you what to do, you will have decide for yourself. Good luck.
I think this is a linkedin specific feeling. Facebook is not like this. You may like it here.
Can you share the secret of easily raising a seed round?
If you know a business problem which is valuable to solve and you are the right person to solve it, yes go for it. You can always go back to bug tech.
I’ve sold a company, worked in big tech, and worked in startups. If you’re a SWE you should totally go for it. What’s the worst case scenario? You have to go back to making $300-400k?
If you have the risk appetite and experience, you should totally do it.
