This is assuming you don't get laid off during this industry downturn obviously. On one hand all the layoffs show why you should prioritize yourself. On the other hand if you don't get laid off it shows , to an extent, that your current employer values you and won't be so reactionary to market trends like laying off or outsourcing whole divisions for temp stock bumps
So many hypocrite companies blabbering about Diversity and Inclusion, Mental health bla bla And forgetting the basic etiquette and firing people who were loyal for 10+ 20+ year in a moment Why would someone stay loyal anymore
Optimize for TC always
When they stop the layoffs I'll stop hopping
Loyal and employer/company should never be in the same sentence
Loyalty is for dogs and suckers.
It will not improve, next president is Michele Obama.
Loyalty goes both ways. Most companies, especially public ones, treat you as a fungible resource and will drop you when you become inconvenient. No reason to be “loyal” if “loyal” means forgoing WLB or receiving below market pay without adequate compensation in some other way just because you’ve worked there for a few years.
I work for money. I'll work for whoever can offer the best TC.
Fuck my employer
Gonna try and find an extra 100k annually to help with inflated costs. May not even wait for the economy to improve.
