I’m a new hire at MS just started recently. just wondering when is the best time to jump to another company. Since i need to stay for 2 years to get all of my signon, 3.5 years to get all of my stock. 3.5 years seems too long for me. How long do people usually stay in a company before they switch? for TC/wlb or whatever reasons? Thanks! stock is divided by 4. I get 25% every time after 0.5, 1.5, 2.5, 3.5 years TC 150k
When the next best opportunity for you comes along
I need to figure out when I should prepare for the interviews again...
You should always be ready. Learned that one the hard way...
Depends on ur refresher stocks. If u have growth trajectory (both learning and financial) then why do u have to leave! , other than ur wlb is screwed !!!
Yes, if there is growth (learning) and ur pay is at market, stay. Better to stay at one company than to job hop imo.
I just wanna change it up. I don’t wanna work at the same company for my whole life
Day after orientation!
:(
the day you signed the offer
I left after 1.5, right after my second stock vest. They didn't ask for the remaining signing bonus left to be returned.
Oh really... I heard you have to stay two full years... where did you go? And are you happier now?
I'm at Google, and yes I'm happier now
Immediately
:(
Is a joke. But if you're having a terrible time, consider it. 3.5yr is shorter than virtually all 100% regular stock vests out there, (normally 4, outside of bonuses). I'd say stay where you are unless you're ready to embark on a bigger and better master plan (startups, or run your own?)
Wow, planing the exit after you just joined? There is something really broken in the world nowadays
Don’t blame the world. Some of them are my own issues
This is not only not broken, but should be encouraged. The average tenure for tech workers in Silicon Valley is 1.8 years, and you should be planning for your long term future.
Some opportunities only present themselves once. If you find something with a much higher TC and that you enjoy, just be egoist for once. What other people think of you does not matter, unless you have your own brand and are selling a product. Out of curiosity, did you happen to have your RSUs not vesting in August/September to have such a vesting schedule?
poll needs more options
Sorry. What do you suggest?
That you learn to recognize sarcasm....
