Maybe I want my next role to take me back in time 15 years. Maybe I want to work with Active Directory, VMware, on-prem apps and networking instead of containers and serverless microservices. Where no one is talking about modernization or Kubernetes or cloud migration. What companies and industries still have ancient tech and need people to keep it running? Who is out there migrating off SQL Server 2012 because Microsoft is finally making them? But not COBOL or mainframes or anything, that shit is too old even for me. Bonus if these companies are remote first but that may be asking a lot if they're all run by boomers.
Believe it or not 95% of the Fortune 500 are still outlook, exchange, active directory, vmware for 80% of what they do. Even if Azure. Just search MS Exchange administrator in Linkedin people or jobs or the like to clue you on what companies to target if they have that.
