I got into this to work at the firmware level and assembly level but all I’ve seen positions for is high level python, node, angular, apis etc. My dream job would be a mix of firmware 70%, software 20%, and IC 10%. Anything out there like that? Tc ~108k
There are literally hundreds of firmware/embedded software jobs postings out there at all the big companies and autonomous driving startups. If you can't find them then you have a different problem.
Lol snarky! Well what do you search for when your starting out in the firmware field. My expertise lies in software so what kind of position would I want/ could get as a newbie to professional firmware development?
It's generally easier to move from firmware to generic software engineering. The other way around is a little more difficult. Make sure you read up on computer architecture basics, coding in c and maybe some projects that involve writing software for microcontrollers. You could try Apple. They I'm pretty sure have the biggest group of firmware engineers than any other company in the bay area. Don't go to Intel under any circumstances. That's a career dead end.
