Where do MSFT employees live

On levels.fyi it seems like msft TC is low compared to other FAANGs. Even at other companies it’s difficult to get a decent sized place in a tech hub due to housing prices. Do they live in the suburbs and take a longer commute or rent in the city? Tc: 300k

They’ve had nice stock appreciation and it just comes down to how much you save at the end, they can live anywhere just save less

MSFT headquarters isn't in Seattle, it's in Redmond which opens up a lot of possible suburbs with decent commutes.

Duval is a popular choice, that said I drove down Novelty Hill road on a Friday afternoon and it was backed up big time.

Regardless of where they live, Microsoft pays peanuts.

These days, Microsoft is pretty open to WFH, even for folks that are “local”. Several coworkers live in Renton, which would be an awful commute but is fine if you’re in the office once or twice a month. Similarly, you could go out to Duvall or Marysville or something and still be close enough for the occasional visit. Or even further. And while Seattle real estate is definitely expensive, it’s not on the Bay Area’s level, yet. ~$1M can still get you a very nice, if smallish, house.

We don't have mandatory RTO so we can live wherever.
