This is basically asking which tech companies offer the highest TC, and I know Blind collects that info, but I'm a newb to the site and couldn't find a simple ranked list of this data, forgive me if I missed it. The details are I have a pretty strong resume, so have a good shot at getting an interview at many of the companies I apply to, and I am located in Silicon Valley, with 22 years of professional experience. I just never had a real FAANG salary yet -- that is, high base pay PLUS equity in a publicly traded company that is a significant fraction (say, 50-100%) of the base pay. I always worked for startups that weren't publicly traded and didn't make it big in the end, or established companies that didn't offer a lot of equity. TBH I didn't even realize that this TC option existed till embarrassingly recently. So figure I'll give it a shot and apply to these elite companies. My brief research on the topic came up with LinkedIn, Adobe, Google, Meta, Netflix (I know, no equity; high base salaries qualify for my search too), IBM, Salesforce, Doordash, Snap, Cisco, Roblox, Wal-Mart(!). Any other recommendations? Ideally looking for remote work so out of the Bay Area is obviously fine if they offer it.
IBM??
Same for Cisco. Pay sucks but WLB
Lol wdym pay sucks? I am making decent bank here.
IBM lol
Lol I’m in the same boat.. had no idea a few companies pay these TCs until a year ago after 15 YOE.
IBM
Take a look at levels.fyi. Salaries there are pretty reflective of reality. In my experience, Meta, AirBnB, Google, Netflix, Pinterest and Snap pay very well, have good prestige and seem to have great cultures. I know little about most of the other companies you mentioned.
What’s your TC now
Zero. :-) I worked for a startup recently @ 170K (plus lots of funny money options worth zillions in the mind of the founder, or $0.00 when converted to USD now that the company is kaput) then quit to work on my own startup idea for a while, now returning to the real world.
IBM -- I know, rite? But I found it on this list, that's why I included it: https://www.knowledgehut.com/blog/web-development/highest-paying-companies-for-software-engineers
I had a lot of fun times at IBM … Doing absolutely nothing … Was way underpaid but did zero work so …
So way overpaid then
IBM … Best years of my life … I was paid below market and didn’t work a single day I was there … I had to relearn all my coding skills before I thought lol …
Wow these IBM comments make the place sound ideal for me. :-) I really want to focus on my side project that might be a startup one day, so a role that paid the bills in the meantime without being too demanding might be a great deal.
