Im a woman that currently is working as an intern (unpaid even thouvh initially I was told I was going to get paid) for a design/tech/marketing company. Im having a hard time getting my foot in the door as a graphic designer/digital marketer even for any internships. This is my 5th internship (first in marketing, 3 others are social media/graphic design) Any tips/resume tips/etc?
Unpaid though told you would be paid? Finish the internship and then report them to the Department of Labor (if in US).
Stop doing unpaid work. It won't be valued
Focus on CRM tools like SF, Pardot, Adobe, Marketo. I started in marketing but I was laser focused on a few select industries and was relentless. I took a decent paying job at a non related job in the industry I wanted to work in. To land my first job it took over 30 interviews. By the end I was so good at selling my talents I had two competing job offers. My first interviews ended in like 5 minutes. For your first gig you must convey passion and make the company feel that you want to work for them alone. And you really need to nail the personal connections and network. That first job was the hardest
Develop a passion for something and do some of your own projects to build your portfolio. Take it seriously, like a job, and build your own website and fill it with your own original designs. That would impress me.
Example of what you mean by passion? Should I focus on the types of design (print, emails, etc) or a market for design (such as beauty products etc)
Thought you were into UI/UX design @OP
