It is hard in Seattle. Depends on what kind of people you are looking for and what you enjoy

Amazon Crypnoob Jan 14, 2018

Maybe I can offer you with, it’s not the area and maybe it’s just YOU..

Don't be an ass. OP just admitted they have trouble making friends

Why attack the OP? This is a fair question and a similar sentiment I see all the time that Seattle is harder to make friends compared to other cities

Seattle is. Notorious for this problem. Ref. Seattle Freeze. I would start with organized meet ups into activities you’re interested in. Lots of people have your same problem there. It just takes time.

Why do you need friends anyway? 🍆

Microsoft RealChadd Jan 14, 2018

Try to pick an area with neighborhood amenities such as parks, tennis court and spend some time there..

Is it too late to consider another geography? Seattle is one of the worst cities for this, see aforementioned Seattle Freeze.

Amazon Diegoo Jan 14, 2018

Totally depends what type of person you are. Please describe yourself.

I'm easy going. I tend to have close friends back at home on the east coast, but not a lot. I'm not confident and tend to be shy. I'm open to new things and seeing new places. I feel like I'm a bit boring because I have no hobbies but I'm eager to do things

I'm 30 btw

Welcome to Seattle and msft. It doesnt matter too much if you have a car, if you live near campus its 20 min drive to cap hill bars. Go by cost. 27/M here, pm if you want to meet some random bros, drink beer and play pool, etc (and youre somewhat in our age range) I went my first year with 0 friends and know it sucks. Gl.

Most people have trouble establishing a friend group here at first. It takes time and effort. Stay genuine and show up when invited and everything will work out. Volunteering is one good way to meet new people outside work. Also informal sports leagues. Capitol Hill seems to be where people go to hang out nowadays, though I haven't lived there in a while so at this point I'm just going on hearsay.
