Which career path would you choose?

Imagine you are a mid term engineer at a medium tier company like PayPal. You can either: pursue senior/staff position either here or at a similar tier company. Pursue another mid term engineer position but at a high tier company like TikTok or Facebook. Or jump straight into senior management in a low tier/non tech company like wells Fargo. Which one would you choose? Imagine all offers have the same Total Compensation to avoid any bias. Around 300k TC

Optimize for long term, career is a marathon. Crashing and burning at toxic companies like TikTok is not a great thing for a long life ahead:

You are talking about "crashing and burning at toxic companies like TikTok...". Don't you work at Amazon?

Yeah, I am crashing and burning here. Can’t jump because of market. Learn from me instead of becoming like me.

Also I would like your reasoning behind. Personally I think each option has its perks and 10 years in the future you could be at a very good position if you play your cards right. Option 1 has prestige as it's perk. Having a company like apple in your resume will open many doors from now on and can be used as a catapult. Of course you'll need to give up some of your free time as compared with other options and work harder. Option 2 has WLB as is main perk as well as some prestige too since you will be getting a more senior position. I seldom work more than 15 hours a week there at PayPal WLB is great in my team. You could use your free time to get a second job, open a side business or just enjoy life. Option 3 offers early exposure to management and if you put same efforts as if you were working for Amazon for example you could get a lot of impact. You could get a director position or senior manager at top tier company in a couple years if you keep moving and looking for better opportunities, of course there's a lot of weight on your shoulders

Apply and see what is offered. Don't wait for them to promote you. Don't wait to be appreciated. There is no right answer but the forthought is a good start. Possibly think 3 steps out
