A lot of people here serve money and not God
I was interviewing at Square NYC and one of the interviewers literally told me joining their NYC office as a new grad is a career suicide... Is it common among other tech companies?
What was the reason provided?
I can’t believe someone said that on an interview it could mean they’re on their way out about to be fired and disgruntled as all hell, or that they’re scared of having you on the team bc as a new grad you may outshine them, or they’re being nice risking their job to warn you a complete stranger ...
One of the most valuable things to do early in your career is to get acquainted and become friends with other good people. Depending on the size of the satellite office, this might be a biiit more difficult to do - in a larger office you _generally_ have a higher chance of finding and rubbing elbows with good people (though there are also less good people in larger offices as well).
does lyft have nyc offices?
We do. They're relatively new (last six months or so). I've heard we're mostly hiring senior engineers there, but haven't been involved in the process much.
When does it plan on hiring more junior engineers?
