I've heard certain companies like Microsoft (at least a long time ago) had diversity quotas where for every job they had to have at least 1 candidate who was part of the target group (i.e. black, latinx, female etc). Are there any companies actively doing this currently? (I know its mostly a dog and pony show where hiring managers just hire their friends anyways) Lyft does not do this. But Lyft has active programs for retaining / promoting staff engineers / equal level managers for the "target group" (why they don't do this for lower levels I have no idea).
Probably every mid to large sized company has this now
Which company?
Expedia. And hr pushes us to hire candidates who are not qualified but belong in said groups above.
Woke companies.
Because the entire recruiting/HR department is not diverse yet they push for diversity in engineering but never in HR. So they make the rules.
Umm... All of them in Commifornia?
You mean Capitalistfornia.
JPMorgan, entry level 50%, at least one diverse candidate + one diverse interviewer for senior positions.
Betterup is the only company I have ever worked for that had a diversity quota and when I say "diversity" I really mean females. You have to sign a NDA agreement just to interview. Which of course is because they do not want anyone to tell the world that their CEO is a "creep". Literally the only feedback I was able to pull out of a candidate about their interview when they withdrew.
Microsoft. It even has diversity quota exclusive interview loops.. Cringy as fck
for some reason I haven't had microsoft recruiters reach out to me recently...but amazon and other companies do...maybe im getting too old
Do they hold the same bar for said group?
I’m pretty sure Microsoft still does this
