Which companies to consider?

I’d like to climb ladder more quickly for my career. But now job market is still brutal and luckily LinkedIn hasn’t laid off any engineers yet. If LinkedIn won’t layoff and macroeconomy still remains bad in future, then I feel there’s almost no companies which motivates me to pursue. Apple: Really team dependent. May not get offer with desirable TC/culture. Airbnb/Square: Established companies without much layoff. But Airbnb seems recruiting very few engineers, it’s all backfill. And I heard Square pay is usually in lower-band? Snowflake/Databricks/Roblox: Seemingly stable unicorn but beutally high bar. Also internally quite competitive, bad wlb. Tiktok: Dream product but hell for employees. Two sigma/HRT: Dream companies with all-cash offer not affected by stock market. But also brutally high bar and need to relocate to NYC. It feels hopeless to get stuck in current position, and also still worry next LinkedIn layoff. So just heavily practice interview skills and try?

It’s difficult in this market to negotiate higher level even you get an offer. Staying for stability is not a bad choice.

If macroeconomy doesn't improve, companies will do layoff to open new headcounts. There is no way they can keep their competence by being "stable" and creates "no competition".
