Not counting my chickens before they hatch, but I am the final rounds with a few different companies and would like to solicit some opinions on which to join if offers are extended. Assuming that TC and location are the same across these three companies, which would you choose? my priorities: 1. coworkers, manager, culture, wlb 2. interesting work on an early/mid lifecycle product (preferably B2C to diversify my experience) 3. TC 4. title what I know about the opportunities: compass: not much of a read on people and culture so far other than that everyone seems sharp. interesting problems. intrigued by the "shopify" platform play for real estate, but still falls under B2B. not sure on upside of equity at this stage; analyst reviews seem mixed. Wayfair: seems like a workaholic culuture but the people I have met were personable. reviews on blind seem to peg wlb / culture below Amazon (yikes). B2C e commerce experience is a welcomed opportunity for me. stock is crushing with some influence from the pandemic, but general consensus seems to be that growth will continue. hbo max: great read on people; everyone seems happy and enjoy working together. sounds like wlb ebbs and flows. B2C experience in the competitive DTC streaming space sounds cool. tons of opportunity to grow skill set and learn. ATT stock does not seem to be going anywhere. even if HBO max has huge success it represents a small proportion of ATT. the comp for this one may come in a bit lower than the others. If you happen to work at one of these companies, then I would greatly appreciate feedback on what the culture / level of job satisfaction is within the product org. Thanks in advance! Will update thread with offered TCs if it gets to that stage. Happy to share what I know about the interview process as well. current TC is $265k 10+ years of experience; 5 in product tagging some additional companies to increase polling sample size #pm #product #wayfair #compass #hbo #hbomax #amazon #fb #facebook #netflix #hulu #disney #zillow #redfin
Avoid AT&T
can you elaborate? is your comment about ATT specifically? or the impact for ATT on HBO max culture? something else?
Wayfair is the worst in this space, look at their reviews. Engineering culture is a joke, you’re basically a lower tier, lower paid Amazonian.
Definitely don't want to work for AT&T.
what makes you say that? is your comment about ATT specifically? or HBO? is there known to be a strong influence from ATT on HBO max?
Go to whoever pays the most. Wayfair seems best for B2C experience.
What team/department at Wayfair?
Hbo comp will beat the others. They give cash heavy offer.
