Which index funds to buy on Fidelity ?

Is expense ratio same as in Vanguard ? Or better to open Vanguard account as taxable brokerage account ? #investments #personalfinance #tech #vanguard #fidelity

You can buy major index vanguard funds in fidelity and vice versa. The only ones exclusive are those zero fee speciality funds. So it doesn't really matter for the average Joe investor. Choose what you are comfortable with, both are great and so are etrade, schwab...

If you're looking at an investment in a taxable account, take a look at an ETF. You will need a brokerage account but they tend to be more tax efficient.

Which is more safe ? Vanguard owned by diff. Vanguard group of companies.difficult to fail. Good ETFs Con - Need 3K minimum to start any ETF no fractional Investment. Fidelity - For profile listed on street. Pro - allows buying fractional ETF. 1. Say if either would go down then which is safer brokerage to invest among these? 2. Which is more friendly to access money should I move back to Canada ?

If you're asking about safety with regards to possible company failure, you should read up on SIPC - this isn't coverage against market volatility but company failure/insolvency. It is like FDIC which is the banking equivalent. https://www.sipc.org/for-investors/introduction

Wrong etf does not have minimum .. mutual funds have minimum .. vanguard are the only one who has exactly same mutual fund and same etf .. VTSAX mutual fund or VTI etf version .. similarly VOo is S&P 500 .. can’t won’t fail

Which is better then ? VTSAX OR VTI considering both covers total stock market.

Cognizant TvuR87 Mar 21, 2023

VTSAX is 3000 minimum and fidelity will charge you fee to buy that some 49$ I guess but VTI is just price of one etf unit which is around 200& and 0 fee .. also tax wise VTI has some advantages over VTSAX and I think expense ratio is less than VTSAX so I would say VTI

FXAIX

Fxaix is good but voo is the real workhorse

Cognizant TvuR87 Mar 21, 2023

Nothing beats vanguard nothing have nothing will .. own their vTi or voo

I love vanguard funds too, but this is no longer true. ITOT from Blackrock is a pretty good option comparable to VTI and been low cost for several years now.

Cognizant TvuR87 Mar 22, 2023

Dude BlackRock etc etc can’t beat vanguard ..

Google HornOKPlz Mar 22, 2023

VTI, ITOT, FXAIX and FZROX are all commission-free low expense total stock market options on the Fidelity platform
