Why not both!!!
Why not have both
Why not neither?!
Depends on where you want to go. What's the objective?
Let's weigh the options over 5 years 1: FAANG - you have earned 800k to 1M at least 2: PHD - you have earned a degree to have a shot at a FAANG job. What did we learn from the above exercise? That, you shouldn't be accepted at either for inability to figure this out by yourself. The only thing better than FAANG is being a CEO at FAANG.
I’ve had two people with masters degrees reach out to me in the past week, trying to figure out how to get into tech. They really just do not get it.
I agree.
Just send a picture of your badge. $500k+ jobs, cto roles, and 18 year old hotties will come flocking in
Become a 3P seller on Amazon. If you make it big ($30MM+ in rev) then you don’t need faang
Any code monkey can grind leetcode long enough and get into FANG. That’s not impressive. The vast majority of people simply don’t have what it takes to get into a Ph.D program, let alone finish one. I considered that to be significantly more difficult and impressive. But from a purely practical perspective the FANG would likely be more useful.
You must be new here. Have you read some of these threads? ANYONE can get a PhD
Not from a top 10 university.

Who needs a resume after FAANGM? It's like worrying about things after Nirvana
If M refers to Microsoft, I can attest its not a nirvana state for us
Why is that? Never understood why MS employees feel that way.
