Weird comparison but curious what Blind thinks. Both are one of the top of their type (Google for SWE roles, MIT for CS programs), so which one is more prestigious?

L4 Google -> 45 interviews, 5 offers, AMA
MIT and it’s not even remotely close
Course 6 grads are scarce. Google SWEs are a dime a dozen comparatively by both volume and talent
Grad school is irrelevant unless you get a PhD. Which is then irrelevant unless you work in research

Damn, Blind really likes to worship Google if the first thing you can think of to compare with a 100yr+ academic institution is an ad company.
Top colleges are very difficult once you get into niche classes. You will notice grad students in your classes with the exception they take an extra seminar class. These classes are small and professors know you. Undergrads avoid some of these classes and focus on graduating. When there is no LC, no cliff notes, no past tests, you see who really shines. When all you have is some syllabus, class notes, past homeworks, some selected texts, you really need to study. Even at top schools top students do their best avoid those classes. If things get tough at Google you just find another team.
People are stupid to think Google SWEs are more prestigious. Rejected multiple Googlers for not knowing simple things like AZ redundancy.
Speaking as a Googler...MIT
are you joking? MIT hands down
MIT CS grad ~ SWE L6.5 Carries slightly more weight than staff eng, less than senior staff
MIT. Far easier to get through Google these days than MIT. Besides, MIT Alum is more permanent than Google Alum which is okay these days. This is not the google of early 2000s, it’s slow, government like and well run factory where people go to retire.
