i am sdet 2 at amazon and have an offer from apple. just wondering if apple is actually a good call. also if someone can tell me what to expect from a sr. sdet package at apple. lastly, does policy at apple allow 1. changing of teams. 2. changing of roles from sdet to sde. 3. relocating feom one country to another. Over here in amazon it is pretty common to see people moving across teams/countries. Is it the same easy system @ apple too??
Don’t do it .i moved from amazon to Apple Sde2 to sr software . Moving to SDET is different though , if you really want to go , ask about the type of work and the projects . Apple can match / top up Amazon offers easily . Also the annual bonus and rsu grants are better .
are you doing interesting work at your current position ? are you paid well ? are you learning new things and improving your skills set? why would one care about prestige?
Apple is a better company in terms of culture, innovation and ethics
Wth is SDET ?
Software Development Engineer in Test
What is the offer?
still waiting for that
I heard they merged sdet and sde into to the same title at amazon, is that true?
Depends on the team and your project. iOS, Etc might be legit from Apple. AWS prolly for Amazon.
As far as changing teams, I will say it's a bit trickier at Apple than in Google or FB. Based on what you are saying about Amazon, I feel it's easier to change teams in Amazon than in Apple. I have changed team in Apple; so it's surely possible and can be done without burning bridges but one needs to be a bit careful.
trickier meanig?
You have to inform your manager first before you formally interview with another team. If the other team offers you the position, it's usually fine and both managers decide on the transition date. It can be a bit uneasy for you If the other team doesn't offer you the position. But I have seen mangers to be supportive of internal transfer in most cases.
Neither. Being good looking is the most prestigious
Instead of changing companies and starting over completely, would you consider just changing teams and moving to Orange County, CA? For the record, this is my first attempt to use Blind as a recruiting tool, so I can't wait to see how this community responds. :)
Someone had to be first. Let me grab my pitchfork and we can commence with the hunt.
@jml86 another thing what is the expected time at which you see people moving from ict3 to 4. i know that it all depends upon person to person and contribution etc etc but i wanted to know about some average. also i have 6.5 yrs of experience and i am offered ict3. is it ok to push for ict4?
prestigious for whom?
Haha
