What does blind recommend for long term good TC, career growth, wlb and fun I know best is a subjective term but vote with your informed bias. Justify your choice if you need to
Sales?
Sales!
Sales is the toughest job, and if you succeed you'll make a fortune
This is a stupid poll because few if any of the respondents have experience in all 3 roles, so it's inherently highly biased.
Engineering management. Bias because that’s me now, but compared to my SWE days, I enjoy a much better wlb and higher TC. Fun for me because I get to work on bigger picture stuff. Not quite as much growth potential as in SWE, but far from nonexistent.
Could you elaborate on "not as much growth potential"? I know most companies have technical tracks that match the management tracks, but if you look at the numbers every company I've ever seen you have way higher probability of advancing on the management track. I guess this could be highly dependent on the size of the company though.
Probably company dependent, but there are fewer levels before you start reaching executive leadership, which for most managers, is out of scope.
