Have offers from both. GS NJ and Wayfair Boston. Would you take Goldman @ 220k TC over Wayfair @ 190k TC as well? I’m struggling to decide.
Being next to (or in) NYC >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Boston
Wayfair. You can organize a walk out whenever you want
What was up with that... lmao
What level at Wayfair?
SDE2
Hard to ignore the 30k diff between them... How does each break out base/bonus/rsu ?
Why don’t you search Wayfair on this app a little. We are technically incompetent and neon political...RUN!
Neon political sounds rad. What does it mean?
Neo political typo sorry is a term my professor used for hyper political or situations better avoided
GS is more familiar to us
Neither of them.
Smart money is on a massive recession hitting soon. I'd wonder about Goldman's solvency (like in 2008), but I wouldn't touch Wayfair with a 10-ft pole. Not that I've got it all my damn self--my company is a shithole, culturally speaking.
As a reminder Goldman was profitable throughout the recession (their record earnings are still from 2009) and GM went bankrupt. All banks including Goldman have way more capital now than pre-recession due to new laws. If you're worried about bankruptcy than a bank is a safer place to be than most companies including GM...
Glad I only work for a wholly-owned subsidiary of GM, then... Also, you won't find me disagreeing; Mary Barra has improved GM markedly, but it hasn't substantially improved my opinion of the company. I'm willing to work for companies I don't love. Edit: I will certainly accept the correction, however--it seems Goldman saw the recession coming and wasn't holding billions in shitty mortgage-backed securities.
I imagine engineers at Wayfair get to work on a broader array of projects. Maybe you would get to work a variety of sections of the tech stack there. I'd choose a more varied work environment over money generally.
Broader set of a PHP monolith, you should search this app for info on the Wayfair tech stack next time ;)
Wayfair has over 15k employees. We've moved past the stage of understanding multiple tech stacks to having more specialization.

If NJ is Jersey City I’d probably take that but I have a strong personal bias for NYC.
Plus Jersey City is a good and more affordable place to live than NYC, while still being super accessible to NYC. Move into the Paulus Hook area and you'll walk to work within 15 minutes. Can't beat it.
~4% gross income tax savings too.
