On Visa, picking from 2 teams: 1) AI for existing product that’s profitable and work would directly generate revenue. 2) Engineering work for legal compliance. Legally needed for existing product(s) to keep functioning in country(s) by ‘x’ date. TC: $350k (new), $305k (google/old)

Embedding with legal sounds super niche and a good place to make yourself irreplaceable to an important non-technical team. AI team you’ll just be another DS / MLE bandwagoner.

Case can be made for both options. Layoffs is just luck at this point. Go with the better TC.
