I loved working in tech at Argo AI and was crushed when it all ended. But now I’m left with a dilemma…. Take a nearly identical role/salary at Aurora, or leave tech for another great organization outside of tech with way more stability but taking a pay cut? I love the idea of the money, but Aurora’s runway makes me nervous… #tech #joboffers #hardchoice
I’d get out of self driving if I were you. Most companies in that space will have the same fate. It’s a pipe dream. Your skills are better used and more impactful elsewhere. You dont need to leave tech, just leave self driving.
What is Aurora’s runway?
1.5 years
Sounds like you have 1.5 years to leetcode
If you join and we go under, you're no worse off than you are today. If we don't, there's a good chance you can retire with your equity. The future is unclear, but it is also not certain death.
I don’t need to tell you but don’t believe everything about the runway. I would skip Aurora.
When I joined Argo 4 months ago, I was told we had 2 years of runway.
I would skip Aurora and go to the company outside av given a chance.. considering you are also not restarting a new career path.. 20k is nothing in practice..
Also post clear numbers if you need clear help
They have runway for another 1.25 years at the current burn rate. But you have to subtract severance packages, payments to vendors, stock drop, and more. It's likely they won't last until the end of 2023

Horrible Netflix ML interview experience
we’re going to need to see some numbers first
$20k salary difference and Aurora will run out of cash in about 1.5 years
