What are some useful tips for whiteboarding during an onsite interview? I just realized that it is easier to leave out terminating semi-colons. I have an onsite in a few weeks & would like to know useful tips. Thanks
Practice
Buy a whiteboard to practice on. Figure out how to write legibly under pressure. Structure the prob and soln. Bring your own set of whiteboard markers that work.
Nothing beats practice on a whiteboard, especially in front of someone else. Don't rush into write but verbally explain your solution. Write clean code with no bugs. Limit the use of eraser.
Make sure you don’t accidentally use the sharpie instead of the dry-erase marker.
If you use sharpie and write back on it with dry-eraser you can clean out what was written, assuming written on white board or glass.
Huh, good to know!
Fb, Uber let you use a laptop. G doesn't.
At FB I was asked to whiteboard, no laptop. At Amazon they gave me a broken laptop (frugal). At Google I was asked to bring my own laptop (to code in Google Docs).

Why are you not getting the job you want?
Do you even need to whiteboard anymore ? FB and G both gave me the option to use a laptop
I have Facebook onsite in a few weeks & they mentioned that it’s on a white board.
Weird, I'd double check with your recruiter to see if coderpad is an option. Sys design is whiteboard tho
