Who hates “Commenting for better reach” type of comments on LinkedIn

LinkedIn, you had a freaking year to fix this crap, either by increasing the distribution organically (based on VPVs) for people looking for jobs or try to reduce spamming from lame comments, and yet, you did nothing. You do really know that the quality of the post is sh*t when it’s filled with comments like “commenting for better reach”? Before attacking me, we really do a good job when it comes to distribution and reducing spam comments even though our user base is more than 4x. Have you given up? Stop doing stupid stories and fix your feed first. Sunday rant is over. Do y’all hate these type of stupid comments?

Linkedin is so lame to start with. It's filled with lame fake over inspirational posts

Oh yeah, don’t get me started on that - “I’m an incoming SWE at G. Thank you for helping me get recruited @imdoingmyjobrecruiter.” Intention - Ok guys, like my post and make me popular.

Incoming and ex titles are so cringe.

All of the options are wrong. When someone needs help, you help them. These are usually in their desperate times. People from faang don’t need help due to their resume, so you cannot empathize.

How does comments like “commenting for better reach” help them? AFAIK, it increases organic distribution and engagement. You could say that a lot more people see the content and yes, I agree. However, you can also do that by changing your distribution criteria. Run a freaking experiment and measure it. Also, it can be done by building a simple ML model for a start. Use text recognition to understand the sentiment of the post, and if your model thinks OP is looking for a job, try to distribute on multiple channels. Doing something like this at least reduces a lot of lame content. Users will retain better and not churn as much.

@op wouldn’t it allow people in your network possibly notice a “looking for job” post, widen the reach of the post and hopefully help the poster land a job? The options you posted though seem logical require more effort than a simple comment widening the reach of the post. If you are uncomfortable with such post ignore people who comment like that and it’s a win-win for everyone

I just unfollow people who type this or like stupid posts. Now my linkedin feed is much better, mostly left with senior/director/vps.

Facebook trolledIn OP Mar 14, 2021

Same. But I still I see some posts pop up which we call low quality content.

You can also block annoying users who sneak into your feed due to your connections reactions. Blocking cleaned up my feed a lot.

I would take these posts over Facebook’s destruction of society any day

🙏 was wondering why no one has started their attack yet.

You know someone is useless when they actively post on linkedin. Can’t imagine being an eng for that toxic echo chamber, way worse than FB imo
