Who make decision in Meta debrief?

Hi, I went through the loop interview at Meta and was a finalist. Unfortunately the hiring manager decided to go with other candidate, who is his ex-team-member. But since I work as CW in the same team, I got to hear from other interviewer that the hiring manager actually skipped debrief and made decisions by himself. When other interviewers confronted him (as they both preferred me), he said the other candidate did better in interview so he went with the person. Iโ€™m not sure how the decision making process work during debrief. Can hiring manager make decision all alone? Does it mean who has highest score in loop interview will get the job?

Meta interviews are jokes... don't sweat it, and oftentimes, they have more than enough candidates who perform the interview well. So, they go with whoever HM likes.

quick question - for PM interviews does HM partake in one of those 5 interviews? is it usually the leadership interview with HM? thought due to to team matching HM happens after we clear the loop

Most often, HM happens prior to full loop...atleast that was my experience last couple of times.

Of course the manager has a say. Whether the team succeeds or fails will be the managers fault, hiring is usually mostly their decision. Every company is like this whether they say so or not. Palo Alto networks, sometimes hr even asks people to rewrite their review (suggesting they increase it) when the manager decides they want a certain candidate lol.

The final decision is always w the hm but protocol wasnโ€™t followed. Also why u not asking in meta channel for more accurate responses

I thought interview pass/fail was by a different team (hiring committee) and whether you get an offer is through team selection?

Thatโ€™s only for e3/e4

so where does hm interview come in? also if hm passes then what is the point of team matching? i know for other companies like atlassian which im interviewing for, there is a hm round before final loop but for meta it is product sense and analytical and no hm round before the loop.
