I been thinking of starting a company for a while now. Have some good ideas that have been validated and garnered interest from other companies. I'm in my 30s and thinking the time is now. The longer I wait the harder it gets to try to start my own thing. I have savings to survive for about a year. My company currently laid off a bunch of people out of nowhere and killed morale and culture. Nobody wants to work there anymore. I see this as a sign. Anyone had a related experience? How did it go?
I’m making 1/3 of my normal TC now at an early stage startup. It’s been almost 2 years but when the next round closes my paper TC will be over $1M
If you can bootstrap it until you get funding, go for it. If not, join a new company and do your startup on the side until it can take off.
Shark Tank is having open calls nation wide. Starting with Seattle tomorrow (3/10)
What is it about?
I am a start up cofounder about to turn 30 in a couple of years. I would suggest analyze the business plan objectively. How much funding you need? By when can you gather that amount? Start up life is tough and draining if at least you can pay yourself enough to take care of your daily expenses it’s a huge boost. Set out a plan for how long are you going to work on it. And how will you decide whether to continue or quit the start up. Even though the plan itself will be useless this Planning is essential.
