From a pure AI talent perspective, what big tech company is leading in AI? I’m talking about AI talent quality. What company will have significant AI leadership in 10 years. Excluding OpenAI, Anthropic, Mistral and other startups for now. #tech #google #meta #apple #amazon #netflix #nvidia
Google by far (DeepMind, Google Brain). Transformers architecture was created by them, they are just extremely slow to capitalize on it. Can't comprehend why there is such opposition to deploy ground breaking products quickly at Google. The same happened with Waymo, look up a story of Anthony Levandowski.
Google 💯 They were slow to roll it out because of DEI culture. That’s all changing now so we can expect big progress I think
"that's all changing now"....lol
Can someone educate me on what cohere and Anthropic have done so far or are working on? NVIDIA work is no joke, plus them being in the hardware space always makes them necessary
Anthropic integration with AWS is their only saving grace. Eventually this race is going to come down to integrations. Who has the fastest legs to integrate with enterprises to become their defacto LLM provider. Kinda like the cloud race. There will be multiple players because there's always a cheaper option. But quality will eventually triumph.
By number of papers at top conferences, GoogleDeepmind OpenAI and FAIR absolutely dominate With G in the lead by far As far as LLM bubble hype and Twitter popularity, openai. pretty shortsighted to use those though for an academic field. (G also is number 1 in self driving but don’t do any press at all because LLM is all that Twitter cares about right now) G has by far the most compute and the most data so it seems reasonable they’ll maintain their prolific lead. However they’re getting smoked in the LLM bubble and Twitter hype , it’s unclear if that will have other effect like cause talent exodus which could hurt it.
Waymo or self driving car units can kill people on the streets. Cruise literally drove over pedestrians. LLMs don't kill people and their outputs can be verified by the human who prompts them. LLMs actually help humans and have become their assistants just like your smartphone has become one and the apps on them.
Also GPT-4 wrapper is the best in terms of usage, speed and accuracy for companies to integrate them into their enterprise or employee offerings. Chatgpt is kinda like a Google search engine. The defacto one for most enterprises. Claude and Llama models don't have the same level of excellency like GPT-4 does.
NVIDIA's ai research papers are never not ground breaking
