When you insert a SIM into any phone, it picks up the IMEI number of that phone. However, as AT&T has deemed my phone to be a 3G phone, their customer service can't add my IMEI number to their system. It's latched onto my friends phone's IMEI number (rendering their phone useless). Currently, they are actively blacklisting known 3G devices. My phone does satisfy all their technical requirements. Why does AT&T exclusively blacklist phones without doing the necessary due diligence? Why are they not allowing their customer service to add a IMEI after proving it's a 4G compatible device? If there are any AT&T engineers on here, I'm sure you can add a IMEI number to your whitelist database. Any help would be appreciated. #tech #telecom #att
It’s called denylisting, you insensitive person!
Can you add anything valuable to solve this issue?
Get a new phone?
Why should I when I have a flagship phone that completely satisfies the stated network requirements?
I mean they’re telling you that you don’t. Just get a new phone.
I suggest you go for a real network that doesn't have these random lists, and doing a chargeback with ATT for failing to render services purchased. It's a known issue that AT&T and Cricket play these games. MetroPCS also sucks. Maybe try tmobile, mint or visible?
This experience has really highlighted these issues & I'm close to leaving them. Wanted to see if there was any solution available before I took any drastic measures. Already dumped their shitty expensive internet a few years ago.
Don’t get random Chinese phones, stick to iPhone Samsung or Google Pixel
Some Samsung & other Korean phones have also been having this same issue. I don't think you understand the issue here. If a phone satisfies all the necessary technical network requirements, what gives AT&T the right to put any model on a blacklist? (Given that the phone is not stolen/flagged.)
For anyone who's new to the issue, check the /r/redpocket, /r/CricketWireless etc subreddits. All AT&T MVNO are having issues with their customers not being able to make or receive phone calls now, even on some 5G 2021 AT&T branded phones, not to mention the supposedly whitelisted phones bought unlocked as a BYOD device.
FYI on the new flagship model citing OnePlus as the reason for not being compatible with AT&T 5G: “The issue appears to be that OnePlus does not want to get the device certified for AT&T's network.” https://www.cnet.com/tech/mobile/the-oneplus-10-pro-will-not-work-with-at-ts-5g-networks/ https://www.theverge.com/23003212/oneplus-10-pro-review-screen-price-specs-battery

I’m sorry but having an AT&T engineer whiteliest your IMEI is… excessive
Did you read the post? This is not some case of a stolen phone needing to be whitelisted. Their engineering department did a half baked job of deciding which devices are 4G compatible. They falsely claim my 4G device is a 3G device & recently moved it to a blacklist because "it's only 3G". They are asking me to purchase a new one. How is that legal?
