Checking levels.fyi, it seems Dropbox IC3 is 343k. It is mapped lower than G/F L5, but it pays more. Is it higher because of lower chance of stock value increase? Are there other non FANG companies that pays more than them (other than Citadel & co)?
I think there are a handful of factors at play. It sources most of its talent from FANG companies so they have to be able to beat current offers at those places. They’re also a company that’s really behind their people and IMO just willing to pay what their prospective talent want. Everyone’s just super nice there too... maybe even down to the comp team?
I also had a very positive feeling when I interviewed there. It seems to be too good to be true though
I’m there now. Everything I thought was true from the interview holds true. A bunch of smart, nice people working on interesting stuff.
L5 can pay way more than 340.
They don't hire a ton of people, as in company size, from my understanding. Easier to pay well with less bloat maybe?
So they go for fewer with better quality? Uhm I'm seriously reconsidering it
We aim to pay at 75th percentile. Facebook pays at 90th percentile. IC3 pay can best Facebooks - But not all the time. It truly depends on your negotiation and how well you did on interviews. If you compare max offers I think FB wins in equity (700k max for E5), because Dropbox equity Max is 600k before approval is needed. Although Dropbox Base pay can beat FB max by 2-5%. The problem though is FB also has higher refresh grants.
This is very true. I know plenty who jumped to FB for better pay
Levels at Dropbox are wider. IC3 can definitely be equal to L5 at FB or G
dbx IC3 solidly matches G/F L5, one of my friends who has 3y experiences as F E5 could not get an IC3 interview here.
