I am based in London and I’ve had fancy brand name companies reach out for interviews as well as non branded companies. Generally the branded companies are paying 40% less TC and offering the same level / a junior role vs non branded offering a higher level postiok (not just by title but work projects also) and 100k+. I have seen non-finance places offering even 150k TC also but when I speak to FAANG they outright say they wont be able to match that. Consulting places are confortably paying 120k ish. If you try to even negotiate they say they have a salary band to be fair and I should for the brand name etc. I am almost worried that taking the 100-120k offers pushes me out of FAANG until leadership stages? Has anyone else experienced this? Thoughts? ps I’m not an SDE.
I have a low level postiok
Not my experience. I regularly get offered as low as half my current TC. Very few positions (mostly finance) match or exceed FANG.
Are you in the UK? Very curious what ranges are being offered and current comp range? Are you on the engineering side? I’ve been offered lower than my TC but these are rare - I tend to be offered 40% or more of my current TC. Wonder if I got scammed at my FAANG lol.
SDE2 100k TC London. I get offered as low as 50 but usually 70-80k. My highest offer so far was 120k. Rarely I get offered more than my current TC
I get “great roles” for a fraction of my TC. More a function of how awful UK recruiters are....
Do you have some sample numbers? Curious about this.
If you think recruiters in the UK are useless, you should try the US.

Never lose your postiok!
What’s that?
I lost my postiok once, it was no fun.
