Title says it all. I see so many simple features broken on YouTube app and instagram. All those Algo coding rounds just to hire terrible developers that can’t code simple features. What’s the difference then? I am a Frontend engineer and don’t understand why faang ask LC. #faang #leetcode #interview #google #facebook #apple #softwareengineer

you fked up your comment lol.
r/whoosh
JPM - bailouts, tax evasion, money laundering are your core competencies. Stick to that
The problem is prioritization. The feature you see broken may be too unimportant to be fixed though everyone knows what the fix is. They rather concentrate on other that really impact revenue. The projects are always understaffed not that the coders are bad.
Why is it broken in the first place?
It wouldn’t be broken in the beginning. Pieces are written as reusable code or framework .When someone changes this framework to accommodate a new feature it has unintended consequences. It may be bad testing or the system has grown too big or again something that is not too important to spend time on. I wouldn’t stop a feature rollout just coz a link in some corner wont work. However i have seen they do a pretty good job with things that are absolutely necessary for their business.
What’s make a non leetcoder not bring in such bugs instead of someone who does ?
Boomer logic - They can LC and they have bugs in their system. That would mean if they don't LC, systems won't have bugs.
🤣
🤣🤣🤣
I mean we do try to choose unusual questions that aren't on LC. The problem is people leak them to LC and we have to keep imagining weirder and weirder problems which is hard. Any suggestions on how to solve this problem?
Less algo, more design oriented.
There's usually a design round or two. But design isn't a part of every role (regardless of seniority). Are you saying 5x design rounds?
Operating a web service at billion person scale is not that simple
I am speaking from frontend side. Algo not required to make UI features..
Op sounds as dead sea as salt.
They should hire u instead
Lmao
