And wait hopelessly in the long GC queue despite big techs are outsourcing heavily? Just curious.
Higher quality of life, craze about living in the US, and higher payscale
Because everyone of them thinks they’ll be the exception. They think somehow they’ll get a green card quicker. They think they’ll stay here and have kids and buy teslas all on their H1-B’s. Very status oriented and it’s made out to be much better than it is back in India. They don’t want to let their *parents* down. Most make decisions based on what other people in India might think or gossip about. Totally stupid way to live life if you ask me, but yet here we are
Stop projecting bro, I was poor back home and earning 🥜. Now coming here improved my socioeconomic status in India, but still poor here. So, I will live as long as I can here and go back if I have any issue here.
Samsara: sounds like you’re the only one that comes from a pathetic and selfish community back home. None of my friends or family members are like this. Same is the case for all of my Indians friends in the US. Sounds like your family sucks bro
I’m just going with the flow. Didn’t plan for anything
1) Overhyped American dream, 2) poor living conditions back home, 3) lack of opportunities, 4) social pressure/competition to go phorein, 5) dowry attached to “NRI” groom, 6) lust of the money (many think as soon as they land in the US there will be $$ showering on them and as soon as they get GC, they will be treated like king), 7) freedom from social customs like joint family controlled by elders - married girls want freedom, 8) returning home for many is not an option else they will be shamed by neighbors and relatives
Long GC queue? Sharma Ji ka ladka got GC in 9 days and has a haveli on Beverly hills.
I don't think quality of life is better in the US. Especially after kids. The pay in India is better now, there is interesting engineering work now (not outsourced shit). Makes no sense to move IMO anymore. Add to it the GC vows in this country.
Missing basic amenities like proper roads, Parks, common civic sense, too much language barriers are some of the blockers for me.
Unemployment is high in India. Pay is low, inflation is high, homes out of reach, competition so high you gotta get >95% in everything just to get a seat. Pollution has gotten worse, oligarchs are strengthening their hold.
