I was assured by the thousands of engineers both on here and on Twitter that the entire website would crumble due to the lack of technical expertise to maintain the systems and keep the site online? How is this possible? Tc 130k #tech
Maybe the engineers built resilient systems? I guess it would be better to build shitty systems that need a lot of maintenance to keep your job?
Reread OPs post, the question was regarding how people were screaming how badly Twitter is going to crash and burn...
I mean these were words from Twitter engineers as well, it sounds like they themselves believe they didn't build resilient systems That said I have no doubt they've designed some great (and not so great) systems over the years of operation.
Focus on your own job dude. Clout chasing won't save you from the PIP train coming to your station in Jan.
Hahahahahahaha. Imma save this phrase for future use.
@!musk you can give reviews till 25th Jan or something. PIP train will arrive end of Feb, no?
Pretty simple, not the first time whiny msm and lefties have made dooms day prophecies when they don't get their way...
Still waiting for the acid rain to come as well š

Because the Twitter employee org has always been very bloated.
Exactly , whole FAANG is bloated
When they trim the fat, OP will be the first one to go.
The 2FA was down for a few days, people couldn't log in
The 2FA system was actually intentionally turned off by Musk. Apparently Twitter was getting scammed for $60M a year by fraudulent Telcos abroad with SMS verification. So turned it off in some places in response.
I did read about this, was pretty funny, they tried to attack Twitter with sms bombs to charge them loads of money. So yeah, it'd make sense to take it offline from those sms providers. :)
All IT is bloated! 80/20 rule.
Honestly, I donāt get why sw eng are cheering Elon. He is a not working to innovate, he is not on the side of the people that hang around in blind or twitter. He is a capitalist. His agenda is about having more control on news and make his investment work for him. If you think that your interests and his are aligned then you donāt know where you stand, unless you are an angel or a VC.
He is not working to innovate?! He made EVs a normal thing on the streets. He pioneered cars with a big display and OTA updates. He has done so much bro. I agree he is quirky and his mannerisms are questionable but ānot working to innovateā is a huge statement that is questionable!! Iād say he is one of the greatest innovators of our times!
Business innovation but not necessarily tech. I think he is brilliant on how to reduce time and cost in the manufacturing of rockets (reuse, why should I throw the engine) and cars (make it one piece, letās build the batteries and integrate all under one roof, get rid of LiDAR do it all with video) I will admit that not innovating is my weaker point of my argument. My perspective is that there is a chance that tech is not developed because it does not contribute to the bottom line in the short term. But then again I do not work for him And the other hand, I would like for you to address the point that your interests are his are aligned.
Sounds like we donāt need all the diversity hires.
Says "new"?? Which company is this?
@nateniz cope.
There are plenty of features broken. Hell, even the new ones they are shipping now are broken: badges, view counts, etc. But I donāt think people understand that Musk is okay with that. The guyās top priority is to cut costs and the first thing he is doing is shutting down the features that arenāt making money. No point in investing to fix them. I donāt like the guy but I would do the same thing in his position if I spent $44B on something that doesnāt make money.
He had an option to not spend the money. But, Elmo being Elmo.
Yea thereās only two ways I see this: the guy is not really smart: he genuinely thought that Twitter was a good investment he had $44B of fuck you money: in this case, the guy doesnāt care if he turns a large profit so itās all upside for him.
It is. I know a dozen of features that just donāt work anymore or keep failing. Twitter is slow to load. Itās a well designed system by some of the smartest distributed systems engineers. It wonāt just go down in the sense of completely down.
Interesting, haven't experienced this. Can you list 24 features (dozens) that currently aren't working for you?
I would but then I have to charge you!
