I live in Bellevue, WA. Hate Xfinity internet. I pay 85$+ per month for the internet and their router. Issue is not only in slow speed. Main issue is that connection is not stable. Internet stop working for 3-5 seconds or even for 1 minute couple times per day. Itās so anoying. What are alternative internet providers with stable internet? I care only about internet serfing, 3 hours of zoom/skype audio calls, 1 hour video call per day and less 100 Gb traffic per month. #remotework
Get fiber
I have wave g and century link in my apartment building. Wave g is pretty decent, see if they provide service at your address
Xfinity is a fucking trash scumbag company, they spend all their money lobbying and monopolizing rather than actually providing good service. In Nashville when Google fiber came and actually provided 10x better service , xfinity lobbied so hard , they managed to prevent Google fiber from expanding beyond 13-14 apartments. Truly the worst company in the states.
First of all buy your own modem and router, why would you pay 15/month to rent something that costs $100 - 150 ? Also, have you called them to see if they have any cheaper plans that you qualify for. I pay 50/month in Bellevue for 200 mbps.
I bought router. Then I figure out that I also need and modem(I thought modem itās past and should not be inside customer apartment). Then there were no cables to connect modem and router. but I have cables from Xfinity to test. I was not able to make router work(router admin console was not as in docs, and there were no way to enter all configs). So I gave up and return all staff. I also have 50$/month plan but then change it to 65$ with same speed
https://www.bestbuy.com/site/netgear-nighthawk-ac1900-router-with-docsis-3-0-cable-modem-black/4403100.p?skuId=4403100 You can buy something like this. You'll break even in a year. These things easily last atleast 3-4 years. Also, one your 1 year promo runs out, call them up and ask if you qualify for any other plan. Most of the time they'll offer you a different plan which slightly more expensive then the promo rate, but cheaper then the non-promo rate of the old plan.
Make sure your wiring is good. If you used to have a bunch of TVs the signal might be too hot and causes issues. They might add attenuators to get the signal in spec.
Just get ATT fiber. I recently got one and itās too good. I also got $300 off on promotions haha
