Not really. Even in India people are obsessed with SUV due to comfort and stability over bad roads. SUV are great cars for long-distance travel and even for elderly. I had a sedan for 7 years and by the end of it I was sure my next car would be a SUV. To make it worse, my parents had extreme difficulty in getting in and out of sedan. Till this date, no regrets with the SUV. Best decision of my life. The only con of SUV is high fuel consumption, and stability at turns as compared to sedan. But anyway I am not turning car at speed of 70 miles per hour, so SUV is stable enough for me. One other thing is objects are more susceptible to fall from seat as center of mass is higher for SUV, but you get used to it.
Yes, Indians consider it prestigious only because of the American fanfare behind SUVs
Indians and prestige lmao
I’ve never liked SUVs. RVs, on the other hand…
Trucks, OTOH
Buses otoh
They are fun to drive and practical. Not more complicated than that.
Practical, maybe. Fun to drive? Nah.
Come on, there are many SUVs that are fun to drive.
It’s versatile.
By the way, none of those cars pictured are SUVs but just crossovers.
Which is worse of both worlds
And minivans.
I have one because they’re safer than alternatives for 6-7 passenger vehicles. Minivans have mid crash ratings
Ya but the sliding doors are the requirement for little kids
They want a truck but have been emasculated enough to buy an SUV.
Of course, SUVs in the old days were actually trucks
Cvent is the lifted truck driver who got into debt to buy a depreciating asset in order to compensate for his insecure masculinity
The obvious: More space........
Because it's the most practical car if you can't afford several special purpose cars. Easy to get in and out, practical for shopping, can put a lot for stuff in if you have outdoors hobbies or take long trips, some SUVs can haul a trailer or a boat if you have a need for it. The only other car that might be more practical is a truck, but to use a truck bed in many cases you would need to add a hard shell, which pretty much turns it to an SUV.
Wrong answer. The most logical and economical answer is the minivan.
Minivans are great too, can definitely fit more stuff in and better if you have small kids. But it has some limitations too, not just "not cool" rep. If you need to tow a boat or a camper or into offroading/overlanding then minivan might not be your best choice.
Other countries don’t have land to use suvs. Enjoy your European cycling.
🤣
lol I own an SUV but also bike commuter and recreational cyclist. Biking much more fun
