We all know that there are much less opportunities at high-paying "top" companies in both Europe and India compared to the US, but while in India this manifests in e.g. tougher interviews (LC hard for internships), selection criteria in europe still aren't strong at all. Meanwhile people in germany think working for a boomer company like SAP or a car maker is the cream of the crop, and people are genuinely afraid to jump ship for 25-40%+ because of a couple of months probation even in a great job market. Not that I wanna complain, it got me through a very easy process at Amazon from a no-name university, just want to start a discussion. So why do you think that is? Because European countries generally have a good living conditions across income groups, whereas in US the wealth gap is great. You can only enjoy some stuff, some very basic (e.g. good health care, good education, maternity leave, etc) if you are rich. So the competition is strong. Same in India, China....
That is a good point, people in other countries with higher inequality have a much bigger reason to "make it", better healthcare etc. and a significantly higher increase in standard of living, while in europe it might just mean a nicer house and a vacation to bali instead of mallorca, while you're still sitting in the same waiting room as the cashier who came before or even after you and still doing your own laundry.
Taking this to logical extreme, communism provides you no incentive to work hard or stand out. Chinese and Indians have the problem of too few opportunities compared to population and it’s the case with most developing countries. Europe is the old man of the world!
Because all the most ambitious Europeans left for the americas back in the day. Selection effect.
I get what you mean :(, I'm from a family of european settlers as well, unfortunately not america
Because they legislated themselves out of an upside because they’re too scared of a downside, but at least they don’t have layoffs
Socialism.
Because life is so much better in Europe.
Lmao it is not Source : French
Marginal 60%+ tax on your bonuses?
Not sure how ambition is related to money. Ambition could be to live a peaceful life without greying out at 28.
confirmed OP is an emotionally challenged child
Europe is where you wanna end up if you are not driven.. just wanna laid back life .. If you are driven.. wanna do some iMovie your ass .. Life is meh and okay in Europe.. they have setup a shame so that they will Never have to fear what Indians or American face
It’s not all about money.
So what it is about then? FAANG employees in europe have the same labor rights as people working at 🥜 companies, even base is still higher. Is it about WLB, then I think my point still stands, why do europeans prefer WLB over earnings this much more?
Because they care about having a relaxed life?
